Google Reader improves navigation pane

The Google Reader Team just made some changes on the most popular online RSS Reader.

The new UI design reduced some visual effects, such as rounded corners and drop shadows. This makes Google Reader respond more quickly and more speedy.

Another big change is the navigation pane (right sidebar area). Users can collapse or expand the navigation pane, show/hide unread count etc.

Google Reader feature

Thing I like:
For myself, I like to minimize all pane except the Subscriptions, I don’t usually use All Items and Friends’ shared items pane.

Thing I don’t like:
It’s should be better if there is option to remove or add customized navigation pane.

How do you like the new design and new features of Google Reader?
