Gmail just added a new feature into Gmail Labs – the Tasks. It enables the user to create to-do list inside your Gmail box, handy!
To use this experimental function, go to Settings > Labs, select Enable next to Tasks description, scroll down the page and Save Changes.
At this time, you will see a new link of Tasks in the left sidebar, right under Contacts. Click the link, the tasks window will show up on right hand side.

Tips
- Create new task – Click anywhere in the tasks windows and start typing; hit ENTER; press the plus button “+”.
- Create new task list – Click the list button(right bottom corner, the right-most one), will show you options to manage task list, you can refresh current list, make new list, rename current list, delete current list and switch to another list of course.
- Keyboard Shortcuts – ENTER creates new task; TAB and SHIFT-TAB indent and un-indent, CTRL-UP and CTRL-DOWN let you reorder from the keyboard, and SHIFT-ENTER toggles back and forth between the detailed view for a task and the main view.
Things I like
- Add to Tasks – You can create a new task from a mail by selecting More Actions > Add to Tasks, or by shortcut key shift-t (enable in Settings > General).
- Pop-out – You can view your tasks in a separate window if you like.
- Drag-Drop – You can drag and drop a task and reorder it.
Things I expect
- It’s better if we can put it in left sidebar.
How do you think about this new lab feature, will you use Gmail as your personal task manager?
