As announced on their news channel, the new version of the featured VLC media player will get released early next week.

The best part that makes VLC stand out is that the program can be used not only as a media player, but also a converter or a stream server.

You can download VLC Media Player 1.0.0 RC4 now, or wait until the final version comes out (soon).

Compared with previous major version 2.7.x, the new release gets improved with themes, widgets and running speed.

After a first glance of the new dashboard, the big improvements I found including feature of installing theme/plugin from admin panel, a shining CodePress editor for online theme template files editing, redesigned widgets interface.
